. my daughter Pheobe stayed over last night....I told her about encouraging, comforting words that had been said to me & there were big smiles....she held my hand & said something very lovely indeed....this morning we played on the wii I got her for her birthday....there is something very very smile-inducing about watching her little arms going as fast as they can as she tries to pedal the on screen bike as fast as she can....

Jez riley French - 'instamatic # 6 - prague'
'earlier this year I visited prague again for a few days....the few days turned into a week due to volcanic ash closing the airspace over europe....I walked around prague sometimes recording, sometimes not....just walking & listening & looking - for my own pleasure....on the eventual long coach journey back to the UK I listened back to the recordings & found them to have captured 'something'....an evocative representation of the rich filigree of sounds that came & went on those walks....'

. awoke at 6am to a choir of birds....it's often easy to just sit back & listen to the sound of 'birds' - letting it wash over you & become a kind of background music, but if you really listen all the different voices start to emerge & soon it's a complex, varied & beautifully intense polyphony....
